The Go! Team : North Six, Brooklyn, NY 3/22/2006

Always hesitant of a band with an exclamation point in their name, I wasn’t sure what I was getting into last week when I decided to roll on over to North Six in Brooklyn to check out The Go!Team. Shortly after 10:30, the three boys and three girls of The Go!Team, stormed the stage clad with wristbands and donning their own personal style, they immediately started bouncing around and playing their hearts out like a pep rally gone rock and roll high school.

Ninja, the lead singer came forward and spoke in a flattering British accent of how small the stage was and said “I’m sure there will be some sort of accident amongst us.” When they went into the second song of the set “Get It Together,” The Go! Team expressed their song-writing talents, as each instrument was put together like an amazing collage, with overlapping sounds and layers.. The Go!Team’s truly unique playful sound can hardly compare to anything else, but maybe try molding the Black Eyed Peas with the B52’s and a little Jackson Five.

The show really broke open when Ninja divided the audience into two sides. One side delegated to sing “keep banging on the door cause we can’t hear a thing” and the other exclaimed“keep shutting down the power cause we can’t always sing.” Either way the audience was more then happy to oblige as The Go!Team continued to play the rest of their set at 200%, while storming through their hit “Huddle Formation,” which had the crowd in awe of their live electricity. Like their well received album, Thunder, Lightning, Strike, The Go! Team indeed live up to all the hype.
