SONG PREMIERE: Ed Vallance Brings Serene Harmony Soaked Autumn Folk On “Älskling”

There is something special about a peaceful folk sound that combines introspective lyrics and melancholy guitar chords to resonate with listeners. London-born/LA-based singer-songwriter Ed Vallance displays that comforting stroke of acoustic elegance reminiscent of the worlds of Jose Gonzalez, Feet Foxes, and The Tallest Man On Earth, where mood and serenity prevail.

On Vallance’s new single “Älskling” that Glide is premiering (below), a scenic voyage populates in the listener’s ears, with drop-dead gorgeous harmonies that make the small, comfy surroundings of one’s existence seem like a castle. A perfect post-election day calmer can relax any uncertainty in the world. Vallance’s new album SWIM arrives November 14 via Brooklyn label, Declared Goods.

“The lyrics were written after a trip to Sweden. I was on an island called Öland one Christmas, and the weather was so cold that the sea had frozen. It was quite an eerie sight. But also very beautiful – like a Turner painting or something. That’s where I got the idea for the chorus: “Meridian moonlight, viridian green. Turn the icy tide into a dream,” says Ed Vallance about the track.
