Black Wire: Black Wire

Britain’s Black Wire was fabled before its eponymous album hit these shores last month, and on the debatable strength of the disc, it seems to be a better band in theory than in practice. It’s hard to discuss them without noting two things: 1.) the band they supposedly inspired, the Kaiser Chiefs, runs every entry in their playbook a lot more fluidly than they do; and 2.) their time as media darlings in the U.K. seems abrupt and coming to a close before they’ve even cracked a wide stateside audience. Especially now that we have a British Next Big Thing (that’d be the Arctic Monkeys) who live up to the hype or are at least close enough for government work to how good the British press says they are.

Black Wire posted a statement online that it doesn’t need a drummer
