Thai-born drummer and Juno-nominated producer and composer Salin (Salin Cheewapansri) wrapped up her first-ever string of shows in the United States at Portland, Oregon’s Jack London Revue on Tuesday, February 11th.
Salin’s short U.S. tour was in anticipation of the March release of her new album Rammana, which skillfully blends the enchanting sounds of Northeast Thailand with 1970’s West African Afrobeat. The Jack London Revue’s rapt audience was not only treated to Salin’s masterful drumming, but a full ensemble consisting of Milla Thyme on bass, Jordan Peters on guitar, Jordan Pistilli on keys, Alexandre Dion on saxophone, and Josiane Rouette on trumpet. Salin appeared to be very appreciative of the reception she received and hopefully that will mean more trips to the U.S. from her current residence in Canada.
Glide was on hand to capture some images of the show.
