Mira Raven is a multi-dimensional artist drawing from the likes of Clairo, Ravyn Lanae, Lana Del Rey, Tyler, The Creator & Erykah Badu. Mira Raven is a multi-instrumentalist (voice, piano, drums, guitar, bass) and producer based in Chicago. Drawing from a wide range of influences from Prince and Stevie Wonder to Tame Impala and Pink Floyd, she is truly a visionary artist who allows her essence to be explored through genre-bending projects. Her background in jazz studies, and her closet obsession with bedroom pop, psych-rock and beyond makes her a truly unique and mesmerizing artist with an authentic voice and sound. With a mellifluous voice and gift for crafting soundscapes, Raven continues to push boundaries and barriers by creating genre-bending music encouraging listeners to expand their music palettes.
Raven exercises her one-woman-band prowess on the soulfully nimble “Soul Phone.” The simplistic jazz of the arrangement is brought to life thanks to the artist’s soaring harmonies and nuanced writing, giving her music a touch of nostalgia while still feeling present and modern. Immediately upon pressing play, you feel lighter as Raven crafts a plush world for the listener to get lost in. While it’s easy to drift away on a bed of melodic jazz, Raven’s songwriting is the last thing you want to overlook. “Soul Phone” explores a deep yearning for a love lost in time, humanizing these deeply personal emotions with poetic vulnerability. The touching ballad introduces the multi-instrumentalist as an alien in modern soul, allowing her affinity for past decades to bleed into her urgent writing. The marriage of these two worlds is at the heart of “Soul Phone.” With little to no outside hands touching her art, Raven is able to take her lofty visions of modern soul and build multi-dimensional tracks that authentically represent her as a fearless musician.
“I just released this gut-wrenching and vulnerable EP that was cathartic and part of my story. This new track “Soul Phone” continues where ‘Listen,’ the last track of the EP, left off. ‘Soul Phone’ explores the realm of metaphysical love, the invisible nudge of love that feels so close yet so far away,” explains Raven. “‘Soul Phone’ is written from a place of acknowledging your feelings and trusting your intuition. Knowing there’s something more to love than just physicality. As simple as the song is, the concept is deep. We all have had experiences when someone’s soul just keeps ‘reaching out’ and calling us, and we ignore it until it becomes so inevitable that we must acknowledge it.”
