Rounding out our spotlight on Portishead this week, for today’s Weirdo Wednesday, we’re looking at the peculiarly unsettling video for “All Mine” off their self-titled album released way back in 1997. As alluded to in our Manic Monday column, Portishead’s music often had a subtly eerie undercurrent running through it. Still, there’s always been something inexplicably creepy about this video, with a ghostly little girl stoically lip-syncing a song about obsession that feels more than a little sinister:
“Make no mistake
You shan’t escape
Tethered and tied
There’s nowhere to hide from me
All mine”
Pleasant dreams:
