Kristina Murray soaks in the nostalgia of bygone honky-tonk with an authentic timbre, top-shelf musicianship, and production that make 2025 sound like 1975. Murray will release her Normatown/New West Records debut, Little Blue, on May 9, 2025. The 9-song set was produced by Misa Arriaga (Kacey Musgraves, Wyatt Flores) and Rachael Moore (T Bone Burnett’s longtime engineer). It was recorded in Muscle Shoals, AL & Nashville, TN, and features Logan Ledger and Erin Rae. Little Blue grapples with loneliness, desperation, and existential crises through a series of cinematic snapshots of small-town burnouts and last call lovers.
Glide is premiering Murray’s “The After Midnight Special,” which purrs in a kaleidoscope of classic country and nostalgic flashbacks. From the first aching pedal steel notes to Murray’s illustrative vocals, the single has gravitational immediacy not often heard from younger artists.
“A story song about a desperate lover searching for someone–anyone– in a dancehall. Inspired by a summer obsessing over the steel-heavy, weepy 70’s country of Gary Stewart, and many nights people watching from stage at Honky Tonk Tuesday at the American Legion in Nashville, this one’s country to the bone and a bit of a partner to the song ‘Has Been,” describes Murray about the song.
Kristina Murray’s Little Blue will be available across digital platforms, compact disc, and standard black vinyl. It is available for pre-order NOW via Normaltown/New West Records.
