Manic Monday: Roky Erickson Tears Through Underground Anthem “Two Headed Dog”

It’s been over six years since the great Roky Erickson passed away- the leader of the 13th Floor Elevators and one of the earliest explorers of the psych rock evolution. Erickson, in fact, was a shock rocker too and enjoyed the process of shocking as he explains in the interview below before tearing into an epic version of “Two Headed Dog.”

Released in 1977 as a single with his band The Aliens, it was one of his first major recordings after his tumultuous time in the late ’60s and early ’70s—marked by his work with the Elevators, legal troubles, and psychiatric institutionalization.
