Greensky Bluegrass – “Past My Prime” (Feat. Nathaniel Rateliff)

XXV

On their first album since 2022, DIY bluegrass outfit Greensky Bluegrass employs a collection of A-list features and their well-earned prowess to piece together a warm, inviting outing. XXV arrives in a blaze of glory as the band enjoys their successes with 13 songs of traditional bluegrass injected with Greensky’s road-tested acoustics. “Past My Prime” features Nathaniel Rateliff crooning over a blast of finger-plucking as they accept their place in the world with a chip on their shoulder.

Night Teacher – “Humanimal”

Year of the Snake

The anticipated sophomore effort from Night Teacher has arrived in all its glory, and thankfully, it is brimming with the singular, moody storytelling that defines Night Teacher. Year of the Snake features ten tunes that lean toward the simplistic yet maintain an immersive, cascading dynamic that flows around the listener, forcing whoever is in earshot to turn their head and follow along to the mesmerizing songwriting. “Humanimal” takes the idea of self-analysis and spins it into a dark, whimsical tale of confronting oneself, all while soaring guitars accent the journey.

Daniel Avery – “Haze” (Feat. Ellie)

Tremor

Modern-day electronic music veteran Daniel Avery emerges with an attention-grabbing LP defined by explosive pop-tinted electro-bliss. Tremor finds Avery tagging in an impressive list of collaborators to add their personal touch to the artist’s twisted, distorted production, creating a complex yet undeniable album of unpredictable proportions. The Ellie-assisted “Haze” is a woozy highlight with vocals that stumble through dense instrumentation to round out the wall of sound.

Guided By Voices – “The Lighthouse Resurrection”

Thick Rich and Delicious

Prolific indie rock outfit Guided By Voices return with their second album of 2025, and this time around, the band is toying with the intensity of their instrumentation. Thick Rich and Delicious plays as one long thought from the band, with each track featuring chugging, explosive guitars that bleed into the next, offering a cohesive look into the mindstate of this veteran band. “The Lighthouse Resurrection” is just a taste of this album’s sonic landscape, with distant vocals dueling with acrobatic guitars for an infectious highlight from a stellar LP.

Duff McKagan – “Lighthouse”

Lighthouse: Live from London

Rock icon and former Guns N’ Roses member Duff McKagan releases a monstrous live LP captured during a live performance in London. Lighthouse: Live from London features covers and reimagined originals that receive a breath of fresh air in a live setting. The live take of the title track from McKagan’s most recent solo release emphasizes the record’s intimacy, as a slow-burning intro leads into an emotional performance from the artist.

Florence + The Machine – “Kraken”

Everybody Scream

Alt-pop sensation Florence Welch fearlessly enters Everybody Scream, the latest LP from her Florence + The Machine project, with a broken heart, deep vulnerability, and an essential message for those who choose to give this phenomenal album their time. These 12 anthems both capture your attention with poetic songwriting and double as cathartic releases for Welch, who spends the album going into great detail on emotions most would try to numb. “Kraken” is the moment the darkness overcomes Welch, and she becomes unrecognizable to herself. This scary reality check is delivered with raw emotion, as the artist paints a horrifying picture and wraps it in a pop-tinted bow.

Chat Pile & Hayden Pedigo – “The Matador”

In The Earth Again

Avant-garde musician and multi-hyphenate Hayden Pedigo teams up with acclaimed noise-rock band Chat Pile for an unexpected but wildly successful collaborative LP. In The Earth Again bounces between heady acoustics and doom-heavy metal, with “The Matador” leaning towards the latter. This is the album’s centerpiece, a nearly eight-minute ride through throat-burning vocals and seismic crescendoes for a preview of this otherworldly album.

Jeremy Pinnell – “Set Me Free”

Decades

On his latest album, Americana musician Jeremy Pinnell spins longing into ten heartbreaking, palpable examples of his raw songwriting and soulful vocals. Decades arrive with a storm cloud looming, casting a dark shadow over this tracklist and creating a dark atmosphere that Pinnell seems to thrive in. “Set Me Free” finds Pinnell pleading for a break from the pain of loneliness, as the artist wrestles with a lump in his throat to deliver a heartfelt performance.

Tyler, The Creator – “Mother”

CHROMAKOPIA+

Fans of Hip-hop’s renaissance man, Tyler, The Creator, have been enjoying a prolific schedule from the elusive multi-hyphenate. Earlier this year, the artist released DON’T TAP THE GLASS, less than a year after Tyler released his autobiographical CHROMAKOPIA LP. Now, the artist returns with CHROMAKOPIA+, a deluxe version of his 2024 release featuring a new tune. “Mother” continues the exploration of Tyler’s relationship with his past and hometown, as an ever-evolving instrumental dances alongside the artist’s intricate storytelling.

Radderall & Muzzy Fossa – “Mr. Anywhere”

The Club is Open

Two of Clevend’s most promising psych-pop contributors, Radderall and Muzzy Fossa, team up for a beautifully psychedelic collaboration on The Club is Open. The slow-burning, punch-drunk tracklist arrives in a colorful fog, illuminating the world of pop with plush melodies. “Mr. Anywhere” is an early favorite, with keys that twinkle, guitars that slide, and vocals that wrap it all in a warm blanket of lo-fi solace.

 Snocaps – “Heathcliff”

Snocaps

Snocaps is the new supergroup consisting of Waxahatchee (Kathryn Crutchfield), her sister Alison Crutchfield, Wednesday’s MJ Lenderman, and Brad Cook. The newly minted outfit spends their Halloween releasing their self-titled debut, a 13-song effort with lo-fi tendencies, with the Crutchfield sisters trading places as singer/songwriter and Lenderman’s signature guitar riffs. “Heathcliff” is a pop-punky cut with punchy melodies that drop into an unforgettable hook, turning rough inevitabilities into danceable music.

Aesop Rock – “Potato Leek Soup”

I Heard It’s All A Mess There Too

One of the more prolific and underappreciated players in Hip-hop took some time this week to surprise-release his second album of 2025, and Aesop Rock sounds as hungry to prove himself as ever. I Heard It’s All A Mess There Too arrives with no singles but a plethora of hypnotic Hip-hop from a veteran, as Rock’s head-spinning rhyme schemes navigate dizzy instrumentals. “Potato Leek Soup” features a rolling piano melody that proves all Rock needs to put on a face-melting performance, backed by vivid imagery.

Geologist – “Tonic”

Can I Get a Pack of Camel Lights?

Animal Collective’s Geologist is officially ready to step into the spotlight with a proper solo debut. After teaming up with Sleepy Doug Shaw on 2024’s A Shaw Deal, Geologist announces Can I Get a Pack of Camel Lights?, a ten-song LP set to be released on January 30. “Tonic” is our lead single and sets the stage for the artist’s challenging yet inviting electronic instrumentals, sure to make his solo debut one to remember.

Midlake – “Eyes Full of Animal”

A Bridge To Far

We are officially one week away from the anticipated LP from Texas’s psych-alt-rock band Midlake, and the band decided to drop off one more single before the album arrives on November 7. “Eyes Full of Animal” is an example of the band’s psychedelic side, with nostalgia-fueled vocals and shining guitar melodies. This single will land on A Bridge To Far, Midlake’s sixth studio effort.

Genesis Owusu – “DEATH CULT ZOMBIE”

Single

“DEATH CULT ZOMBIE” is the second release from the genre-blurring phenom Genesis Owusu. Arriving just in time for the holiday, the artist’s latest features a post-punk groove that anchors the artist’s gut-punching melodies to reality, creating a catchy atmosphere. The single arrives just about a month after Owusu released his single “PIRATE RADIO,” which marked his first proper release since his 2023 LP.
