Rounding out our salute to Steve Cropper this week, for today’s Weirdo Wednesday, we’re serving up this amusing scene from iconic The Blues Brothers film, which features Cropper and company performing Latin-esque lounge music to a decidedly uninterested/sparse crowd at a Holiday Inn. The idea of a legend the likes of Cropper (not to mention Duck Dunn, Willie Hall, etc.) performing that type of music in such an underwhelming setting is funny enough, but the subsequent conversation with The Blues Brothers, in which Belushi and Aykroyd try to convince them to get the band back together is pure comedy gold. R.I.P. to Steve Cropper and all the other greats in this scene:
