LISTEN: Last Second Dropout’s “Apathy” Is Explosive Melodic Punk Bursting With Raw Emotions

Seamlessly blending pop, rock, and rap, Last Second Dropout combines a nostalgic aesthetic with a modern edge. Produced by the legendary GGGarth Richardson—known for his work with Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Taylor Swift—LSD channels raw emotion and energy into every track. The band is fronted by Mark MacDonald, a Boston-based Canadian dual citizen, whose vision drives their sound and message. A message that everyone belongs and is welcome to the mosh pit, from the freaks to the jocks.

The rest of the lineup-LJ on drums, Sophia on keys, and Brad on bass-met Mark while studying at Berklee College of Music. The name “Last Second Dropout” is an inside joke referencing their shared experiences at Berklee.

LSD is gearing up for the release of their latest EP sometime in 2026, and the latest single should have every melodic punk fan rushing to hear more from this young band. “Apathy” is a ripping, no-nonsense single with an unapologetic edge, underscored by a sleek vocal performance and explosive instrumentation. LSD toe the line between honoring their influences and the cathartic release of unleashing a lofty creative vision, landing somewhere between tradition and individuality. This middle ground, though, is slowly becoming something the band can call their own, as they toy with their limitations on “Apathy.” The raw pun anthem is highlighted by Hip-hop-inspired vocals that fit snugly alongside the cascading percussion. Those same vocals gracefully slide into the screaming chorus, introducing MacDonald’s acrobatic vocals. LSD is quickly becoming a name to remember, and their relatable new single “Apathy” is a beautifully crafted look into an exhilarating young act.
