LISTEN: sheep eyes Craft Refreshing Post-punk On Mesmerizing “Crusht”

sheep eyes is an LA-based post-punk/new wave/art rock band inspired by the likes of Television, Ought, and Suburban Lawns. Born out of the duller days of COVID and a desire to cut through the distorted, reverb-drenched sounds its city is more known for, sheep eyes is a project that seeks to renounce literalism in search of something more lyrical, all while remaining true to its roots in the brighter side of post-punk.

It has been a busy year for sheep eyes, as they have consistently been releasing wildly entrancing singles since January. “Crusht” is one of the latest singles in the band’s recent prolific streak, and it is not the release to miss in this avalanche of refreshing post-punk that the band is unleashing. With hyperactive percussion that dances around sleek guitar riffs and a distant yet potent vocal performance to juxtapose them, “Crusht” is the result of thoughtful attention to detail. In less than three minutes, this band takes you on a journey through otherworldly colors, but never for the sake of showing their prowess. Despite its experimental disposition, “Crusht” sounds just as comfortable on the airwaves as it does sitting next to other daring bands, adding something new to the burgeoning post-punk scene. 2026 is shaping up to be the year of sheep eyes, and “Crusht” is just one example of the individuality that makes this band such a memorable one.
