As Kevin Morby gears up for the release of his eighth album, Little Wide Open, this Friday (May 15), we will be looking back at the unique spirit of this Midwest artist, who envelops the Velvet Underground with a touch of dustbowl brawn.

Let’s watch his 2016 Pickathon performance- Stripped down and filmed deep in the woods for Pickathon’s celebrated “Woods Series,” the session feels like one of those had to be there moments. Fortunately, we have this proshot video of “Motors Runnin’.” The song itself comes from Morby’s 2014 album Still Life, a record that helped establish him beyond his earlier work with Woods and The Babies – yet this live performance is unique for its incorporation of the elements.
