Stillsound is a Washington-based indie rock/dream pop project blending jangly surf-inspired guitars, post-punk textures, grunge heaviness, and nostalgic songwriting into emotionally charged songs that drift between melancholy and catharsis—inspired by artists like Wild Nothing, The Smiths, Peter Bjorn and John, Arctic Monkeys, MGMT, The Drums, and Toro y Moi, the project balances shimmering melodies with raw emotion, bass-heavy grooves, and moments of dissonance that resolve into memorable hooks and layered harmonies.
Making music since age 16, the creator behind Stillsound spent years experimenting with songwriting, recording, and production before officially releasing music only in recent years. A multi-instrumentalist with a deep passion for sound design and production, every Stillsound song is written, recorded, produced, and performed independently, with a strong focus on atmosphere, texture, and emotional honesty.
Since the artist began releasing music publicly, they have done so at a prolific rate. The years the artist spent behind closed doors have culminated in Misty Eyes, the freshly released 12-song project that is some of stillsound’s most honed work to date. “Talking With You (Bliss),” the album’s closing track, is a stunning introduction to the singular sound this artist has crafted through tireless sonic experiments. The results of years of toiling present as a digestible, soaring, punk-tinted tune with tight grooves and atmospheric vocals. The shoegaze-style vocals from stillsound cascade over subtle psychedelia, with jovial poetry, giving the air of innocent longing cloaked in harsh realities and dreamlike textures. “Talking With You (Bliss)” is only a slice of the beautifully self-produced magic of stillsound’s Misty Eyes.
