Another Fiasco: If Never Was Enough

Another Fiasco, an Athens-Ga. based collective boasting members of Charlie Mars Band, Lionz and Soul Kitchen, can’t help but sound like they are having a good time. On the recently released If Never Was Enough, the quintet exudes Zepplin-esque bravado in exorcising its rock and roll demons. With light subject matter and a propensity to turn its guitar-rock foundation into a reggae-inflected shakedown, each of the 12 tracks maintains the easy feel of a garage band of friends who happen to be adept musicians. From the laid-back funk of “80 Pounds” to the synth-charged ease of “Life Stands Still,” Another Fiasco charts a multi-faceted course with a cache of musical influences circulating through its instruments. A good listen from start to finish, the album does wander into generic territory at times; however, the many stylistic diversions of If Never Was Enough are evocative enough to make this a soundtrack for a good day.
