Celebrating 20 years since their first album release, beloved Bay Area “California Soul” psych rockers The Mother Hips have announced a full US tour to accompany the release of their eighth studio album, Behind Beyond, via their own imprint label Mother Hips Records on July 9, 2013 (scroll down for complete dates). As well as being available digitally and on CD, Behind Beyond will be released on as a double LP which will include two album-only bonus tracks, “Old Greenway” and “Broken Open;” the complete track listing is available on the band’s Facebook page. The album will be available for pre-order on Wednesday, June 12 at http://www.motherhips.com .
This is their first studio release since 2009’s Pacific Dust and their 2011 four-disc retrospective compilation, Days of Sun and Grass.
The Hips will play June CD release shows in Chico, CA at the Sierra Nevada Brewery on June 24 and 25 (the Hips have their own beer, “Hips Helles”) and two hometown shows on June 28 and 29 at the Independent in SF, CA. They’ll tour on and off through the end of the year, including Outside Lands Festival in August and an East Coast run in November. More dates will be added soon.
