A quick glance at any Best Album Of ’10 So Far list and odds are you’re going to find Janelle Monae’s long delayed debut The ArchAndroid mentioned. The album, which was originally conceived as three-EPs inspired by the movie Metropolis that tells the tale of a messianic android that comes back from the 28th century to save the world, features Monae’s unique blend of R&B, pop, funk and hip hop, along with diverse guest appearances from the likes of Saul Williams, Of Montreal and Big Boi (who also co-produced the album).
