As My Morning Jacket is set to kick off their five-night, full album residency tonight at New York’s cavernous Terminal 5, we wanted to remind everyone to head in early as the Kentucky-based band has recruited an impressive and diverse group of acts to hold down the opening slot. Among the bands that will take the stage before MMJ are psych-rockers Dungen, folk-rock act Elvis Perkins In Dearland and roots-rockers Hacienda – whose sophomore album Big Red & Barbacoa was among my Top 6 Of The First 6.
The band mixes rockabilly with surf-rock and vintage rock and will open tomorrow night. In the meantime, check out their video for Younger Days…
MMJ runs through all of their 1999 debut album Tennessee Fire plus more material from that period at Terminal 5 tonight. Tickets are still available.
