Gregg’s Got The Low Country Blues

Over the last few years Gregg Allman has battled a string of health problems, which have forced the legendary B3 player off the road for stretches at a time. With a new lease on life, thanks in part to a liver transplant earlier this year, the 62 year-old Allman has now been able to fully return what he does best – making music. On January 18 Allman will release his first new studio album in 14 years titled Low Country Blues via Rounder Records.

Produced by T. Bone Burnett, and backed by Dr. John on piano, Doyle Bramhall II on guitar and Burnett’s studio rhythm section of bassist Dennis Crouch and drummer Jay Bellerose, the 12-track album sees Allman tackling a who’s who of legendary blues men – both familiar (B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Skip James) to a bit more obscure (Sleepy John Estes, ‘Magic’ Sam Maghett), as well as one new track co-written with his ABB band mate Warren Haynes.

Track Listing:

1. Floating Bridge (Sleepy John Estes) / 2. Little By Little (Junior Wells) / 3. Devil Got My Woman (Skip James) / 4. I Can’t Be Satisfied (Muddy Waters) / 5. Blind Man (Bobby Bland) / 6. Just Another Rider (Gregg Allman & Warren Haynes) / 7. Please Accept My Love (BB King) / 8. I Believe I’ll Go Back Home (Traditional) / 9. Tears Tears Tears (Amos Milburn) / 10. My Love is Your Love (Samuel Maghett) / 11. Checking On My Baby (Otis Rush) / 12. Rolling Stone (Traditional)

Prior to the release of the record, Gregg will return to the road, first with the Allman Brothers Band for a short November run that includes an appearance at the Another One For Woody Benefit at Manhattan’s Roseland Ballroom on the 22nd. Allman will then head out on a 12-date Northeast solo tour that includes a New Year’s Eve show at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center in Westhampton Beach, NY.
