It’s Official: Allman Brothers Band March Madness Run Returns to the Beacon

Last year, MSG Entertainment and the Allman Brothers Band each got a look at life without each other and they both didn’t like what they saw. The partnership between the organization that runs the Beacon Theatre and the Hall of Fame jammers is officially “on again” after this morning’s press conference to announce the return of the Allman Brothers Band to the venue for the annual March Madness Run.

Currently on the books are performances on March 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 18 and 19. In the past, more dates would be added when the first set of dates sold out, so we’d expect more shows to be announced later. As we mentioned on Friday, the group’s landmark At Fillmore East live album was recorded at the Fillmore East on March 12-13, 1971. Hopefully the Allmans will play tribute to the LP’s 40th Anniversary at the show on the 12th.

The Allman Brothers Band first performed at the Beacon in September 27th, 1989 and started the long-time March Madness tradition on March 10th, 1992. According to the ABB-Base, the band has played 190 shows at the Beacon. As you may recall, the group was forced out of the venue and up to the United Palace this past March due to the ill-fated Banana Shpeel musical taking over the Beacon.

ABB March Madness tickets go on sale Saturday, December 4th at 11AM EST. The Allmans are currently in New York City for tonight’s Another One For Woody benefit at the Roseland Ballroom for which tickets are still available.
