Briefly: Neil Young Backs His Wife in BK

Legendary rocker Neil Young performed at the Bell House in Brooklyn last night as part of wife Pegi’s backing band, The Survivors. According to reports on Brooklyn Vegan and Rolling Stone (via JG), Young took a few guitar solos, played harmonica and shared vocals with Pegi on the set-closing Doghouse – an unreleased track the former Buffalo Springfield front man has only performed nine times since 1988.

Pegi was opening for longtime friend of the Young’s, Bert Jansch. Neil did not sit in during Jansch’s set as had been speculated. Bert’s week-long tour with Pegi wraps up tomorrow night at the First Unitarian Church in Pittsburgh, PA.

  1. “Shared vocals” is putting it extremely generously–he sang a few words of the backing line, and it wasn’t that audible. Kind of a tease, for him to be up there that whole time and Pegi not even to sing a duet with him or anything.
