Preview: Snoe.down 2011

Festival goers and VIPs heading up early on Thursday can attend the separately ticketed pre-shows featuring The Brew with special guests Lucid at the Wobbly Barn, or Twiddle at the Pickle Barrel.

Crossing genres, sometimes within one song, the Massachusetts-based quartet The Brew is returning to their fourth moe. headlined festival. Recently, their opening and setbreak performances at moe.down XI exposed the band’s new-age jazz/funk, combined with jam rock, metal rock, and ’80s rock stylings to those in attendance.

Additional events will be held at the Bear Mountain Lodge and K1 Lodge at Killington’s resort. Playing during the day at the lodges on Friday and Saturday is a group of bands bringing a fresh new perspective to the music world, among them The Brew, The London Souls, Dangermuffin, Timbre Coup, and Caravan of Thieves. This year’s Sonicbid contest winners Frank Viele & The Manhattan Project will play opposite of the VIP ticket only acoustic set by moe. on Sunday at the K1 Lodge.

The eclectic trio of Dangermuffin brings their eclectic blend of grassroots back-porch blues with dance-floor grooves that accompany their award winning songwriting and vocals.

Albany, NY based Timbre Coup melds the worlds of progressive electronica and trance.  Relatively new to the scene, and relatively young in age, the band creates high energy, pulse pounding beats within their intricate compositions.

Caravan of Thieves is the self-described embodiment of the spirit of swing and “gypsy-jazz.” Along with their acoustic take on alternative folk and jazz their stage theatrics are notorious for incorporating percussive “junk” such as wheel-barrows, metal trash-cans, and pretty much anything they can bang out music on.

Closing out the weekend longtime friends of the band, and no strangers to moe. festivals, AOD (Assembly Of Dust) will be playing at the Pickle Barrel on Sunday night. This is another show that VIP ticketholders can attend without an additional charge.

Always giving something back to wherever moe. leaves its mark, a portion of all ticket purchases is being donated to Vermont Adaptive, the only year round sports and recreation organization in the state empowering individuals with disabilities.
