Back in 1969, Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady originally started Hot Tuna as a side project to play some live dates during Jefferson Airplane’s hiatus, as Grace Slick recovered from throat surgery. The band, who mixed acoustic and electric rock and blues, quickly morphed into a full time outfit and have now been at it for over 40 years – with Jorma and Jack being the constants for a rotating cast of band members. On April 5, Hot Tuna will release Steady As She Goes, their first studio album of all new material in 20 years. Multi-instrumentalist Larry Campbell handled production duties.
The band, who will appear at Mountain Jam this June, has announced four special “record release” shows that will feature Campbell and his wife Tersea Williams, who will be on hand to help re-create the album’s full sound.
If Jorma & Jack haven’t scheduled a stop near your town, then maybe you’ll be able to hit one of these recently announced tours…

Finally, on May 31, Death Cab For Cutie will release their seventh studio album Codes And Keys, the band’s first set of new material since 2008’s Narrow Stairs
, which scored the band its first chart topping album when it debuted at number one the Billboard charts. As a way of celebrating their new record, Death Cab will play a string of intimate club dates, which kicks off on May 18 at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto, Canada and includes stops in Chicago, Minneapolis, New York City, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Ticket presales for these shows begins on March 24 at 10AM local time for the venue.
