Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Making Paper Airplanes

A quick glance at Alison Krauss’ resume and what immediately pops out is the astonishing number of Grammys that she has amassed in her career – 27 in total – making her the most awarded female artist, most awarded singer, and tied for the second most awarded artist overall in Grammy history. The bluegrass and country musician has been putting out albums with Union Station since 1987, and has had her hand in a number of  the genre’s most important and influential releases of the last 20+ years including the soundtrack for O Brother, Where Art Thou? and Raising Sand – her multi-platinum selling collaboration with Led Zeppelin front man Robert Plant.

After riding the wave of the runaway success that followed Raising Sand’s release, which included six Grammys awards, including one for Album Of The Year, and a scrapped attempt at a follow up, Krauss has regrouped with Union Station to record their first album together in seven years, releasing Paper Airplane earlier this month on her longtime label, Rounder Records. Check out the video for the album’s title track…

Alison Krauss & Union Station will kick off their lengthy summer tour in Louisville, KY on June 4 and cross the country before returning to Appalachia to end the tour in Knoxville, TN on September 24 and 25.
