PT: Derek & Susan Learn How To Love

After years of appearing on each other’s albums and sharing the stage together when their schedules allowed, the husband and wife tandem of Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi have decided to put their respective solo bands on hold in order to join forces for a brand new band they’ve simply crowned the Tedeschi Trucks Band. The 11-piece ensemble features an amalgam of talent they’ve hand picked from their respective bands that includes Oteil & Kofi Burbridge, drummers J. J. Johnson and Tyler Greenwell, trumpeter Maurice Brown, saxophonist Kebbi Williams, trombonist Saunders Sermons plus Mark Rivers and Mike Mattison on backing vocals.

Live, The Tedeschi Trucks Band has a whole stack of new material to choose from thanks to their debut album Revelator, which hits shelves on June 7. Tedeschi and Trucks teamed up with an impressive array of songwriting talent – Gary Louris (The Jayhawks), Oliver Wood (The Wood Brothers) and Sonya Kitchell – to co-write the record’s 12 tracks. Last week the Tedeschi Trucks Band made their network television debut when they stopped by the Tonight Show to perform Learn How To Love…

The Tedeschi Trucks band will hit the road tomorrow night for a lengthy world tour that includes a high profile appearance at the Gathering Of The Vibes in Bridgeport, CT on July 22.
