Panic En La Playa: Widespread Panic Resort Vacation From Cloud 9

Widespread Panic fans may be worried about the status of the band past 2011 after numerous members of the group mentioned an “indefinite hiatus” following their 25th anniversary celebrations this year. Well, perhaps this announcement will allay fears as the group will head to the Now Sapphire Resort and Spa on Mexico’s Mayan Riviera for four shows between January 31 and February 4. This destination event, titled Panic En La Playa, will be produced by Cloud 9 Adventures of Jam Cruise and Mayan Holidaze fame.

Open to only 1,000 fans, Panic En La Playa, those attending will stay at the all-inclusive resort where Panic will play a full two-set show each night. Rooms go on sale through the event’s website on June 21 at Noon ET. No word yet on any other 2012 touring plans for the Georgia-based jam titans. Let’s hope this is a hiatus that includes the occasional special gig(s) like this one.
