Next weekend HT faves Wilco host the second annual Solid Sound Festival at MASS MoCA in North Adams, MA. Solid Sound 2011 takes place on June 24 – 26 and includes Friday and Saturday night performances from the Chicago-based band (Wilco’s only scheduled U.S shows of the summer) as well as sets from a number of acts hand picked by Wilco including The Levon Helm Band, Thurston Moore, Liam Finn and Neil Finn’s new band – Pajama Club. There’s also a comedy cabaret hosted by John Hodgman, an on-site pop-up store run by Euclid Records of St. Louis, a slew of art installations curated by Wilco and more.
For this year’s event, festival promoters have teamed up with the Peter Pan bus company to offer round-trip bus transportation from New York City and Boston directly to and from the festival grounds for just $40 each way. The buses will be equipped with wi-fi (each seat has a power outlet) and will show movies selected by the event organizers. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are available through the festival’s ticketing website.
We’ve got quite the prize for this afternoon’s edition of the Everybody Wins When We Plug Something And In Return They Offer Us Free Shit To Give Away program. We’re giving away a pair of 3-day Solid Sound Festival passes AND two round-trip bus tickets from either Boston or NYC to a lucky reader. To enter, simply leave a comment below telling us what song you’d like to see Wilco perform during one of their two sets. You can enter a second time by leaving your Wilco song request on our Facebook wall. You must leave your comment on this page or our Facebook page by Wednesday, June 22 at 11:59AM. We’ll pick the winner at random shortly after the contest ends.
