George Harrison was known as “the quiet one” during the Beatles Days for a reason, so it makes sense that he turned into the most reclusive Fab Four member after the band broke up. Director Martin Scorsese has put together a documentary called George Harrison: Living In The Material World which gives us a peek behind the curtain at the legendary guitar player.
Scorsese was given unprecedented access to Harrison’s home movies and private papers by George’s widow Olivia and son Dhani. Martin also was able to get many of Harrison’s closest friends to comment on the record about such controversial topics as the 1999 in-home attack he suffered, his drug use, the ill-fated ’74 world tour and his thoughts on the other three Beatles.
The film debuts in two parts on HBO this week with part one, which focuses on the Beatles days, airing this evening at 9PM ET and part two, which focuses on his post-Beatles life, debuting tomorrow night at 9PM ET.
