Big news out of the Umphrey’s camp this afternoon as the HT faves have announced that they will host a workshop called sUMmer school at the Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, NY from August 6 – 10, 2012.
Umphrey’s will take over the Full Moon Resort for a week-long retreat that will feature master classes, seminars, work shops and performances for up to 150 attendees. Here’s an explanation…
Each day you and your fellow sUMmer schoolers will join the six band members, Umphrey’s management and crew for interactive workshops, performances, sessions, and other group activities throughout the week that will bring you closer to the aspects of music that mean most to you. We’ll be offering a behind the scenes look into what makes the Umphrey’s McGee clock tick. sUMmer school is meant for aspiring musicians of all skill levels and ages, those of you looking sharpen your skills and learn more about how we make music. Unlike your days of high school algebra, sUMmer school will be an open ended adventure in rock where we’ll push the boundaries and break down walls, and have a lot of fun along the way. If you don’t happen to be a musician, but you are passionate about music, interested in recording, lighting, or looking for an Umphrey’s business 101 tutorial, sUMmer school will give you the hands on chance to ask the questions you’ve always wanted to ask while learning many of the essentials of the industry.
Three meals a day will be included as well as different levels of accommodations depending on how much you’re willing to spend. An intimate week with Umphrey’s won’t come cheap as packages start at $999 and run to $2,430. Registration begins on November 21.
In other Umphrey’s news, the band has also announced their first tour of 2012. The action will start in Minneapolis on Feb. 2 and continues into March. Along the way Umphrey’s will perform in the Northeast, Midwest, Colorado and the West Coast. A pre-sale for tickets for each show on the tour will start tomorrow, Nov. 15, at Noon CST through Umphrey’s Ticketing.
