It raised a few eyebrows when The Black Lips revealed that they had tapped Mark Ronson to step behind the boards to produce the flower-punk act’s sixth studio album Arabia Mountain. Ronson is best known for this work with the likes of Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen and Adele, while the Athens-based band plays a scuzzy brand of psychedelic garage rock. This unlikely teaming resulted in a mix of retro, jangly, 1960’s inspired sounds that could be right at home on a Nuggets compilation.
