V2 Records announced today Ray Davies’ 2nd leg of his North American tour to support his highly acclaimed debut solo studio record “Other People’s Lives,” released on February 21st to great fanfare. The first leg was Davies’ first tour of North America with a band other than The Kinks, and it focused on the east coast and Midwest. This next series of dates will take Davies and his excellent new band to California, the Pacific Northwest, Colorado, Arizona and Texas. The dates for the tour are listed below.
Davies is currently on tour in Europe. In March, right as the American tour was beginning, he performed at a sold-out multi-media event that he created for this year’s SXSW. At the event, Davies showed clips from a documentary he is putting together that is as Billboard described in review: “A narrative about the eight-year path he took in making “Other People’s Lives,” including an arduous North American tour shortly after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in 2001 and a move to New Orleans, where was shot by a mugger in January 2004.” In between clips Davies weaved six live acoustic songs into the story and took questions from the audience afterwards.
“Over My Head” will be the new single from “Other People’s Lives.” It will be sent to radio to coincide with the tour. Also, Davies will be taping an hour-long Austin City Limits show while in Austin for airing on a date soon to be announced.
