Deadheads will have a chance to see the Grateful Dead on the big screen come April 19, when movie theaters across the country will show the group’s previously unreleased July 18, 1989 performance from Alpine Valley in East Troy, Wisconsin.
The show the Dead played the next night was released as Downhill From Here, but this will be the first time all of the 18th will be broadcast. Participating theaters will show the concert film, nearly three hours in all, at 7PM on April 21. Event attendees will also get an exclusive listen of an unreleased live track from Spring 1990 and a look at rare photos of the band from that celebrated tour. Tickets are on sale to the general public on Friday, March 23 though a pre-sale is available now through Fathom Events. Check out the trailer…
