The Metermen: Nocentelli / McConnell / Porter Jr. / Modeliste

Three of the Original Meters – guitarist Leo Nocentelli, drummer Zigaboo Modeliste and bassist George Porter Jr. – will team up with Phish keyboardist Page McConnell for a pair of shows billed as “The Metermen” at New York City’s B.B. King’s Blues Club on Halloween and November 1. Phish confirmed they wouldn’t play a Halloween show in 2012 back in April when a summer tour date announcement proclaimed “No additional Phish dates will be announced for Summer or Fall of 2012.”

Tickets for these shows go on sale this Friday, July 20, at Noon through the B.B. King’s website (October 31 and November 1). The Original Meters, which features founding member Art Neville on keys in addition to GPJ, Nocentelli and Modeliste, last performed at New Orleans’ Howlin’ Wolf in May during Jazz Fest. McConnell previously teamed up with George Porter Jr. as part of a run of Northeast shows with PBS in September of 2008 as well as one-off performances in 2007 and 2009.
