Soulive is the latest signing to the reactivated Stax Records label, which will issue the group’s next album, "No Place Like Soul," on July 31. The set is Soulive’s first with full-time vocalist Toussaint, formerly of the China Band. It’s the follow-up to 2005’s "Breakout" (Concord), which reached No. 3 on Billboard’s Top Contemporary Jazz Albums chart.
The group will return to live duty with a two-show run at New York’s Bowery Ballroom beginning Thursday (April 12), to be followed by an April 20 date in Providence, R.I., with the Roots and an appearance at the end of the month at New Orleans’ Jazz & Heritage Festival.
