In preparation for a series of shows to celebrate their 50th Anniversary, The Rolling Stones performed in public for the first time since 2007 on Thursday night at Le Trabendo in Paris. An intimate crowd of 600 was on hand to see the group barrel through 12 songs from throughout their career including the debut performance of Doom and Gloom. Along with 10 originals, The Stones covered Route 66 by Nat King Cole and Muddy Waters’ Champagne and Reefer.
While cell phones and cameras were prohibited, a fan-shot clip of Shattered and When The Whip Comes Down has surfaced which shows a band rough around the edges. The Paris performance featured the core version of The Rolling Stones – Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Ronnie Wood, Darryl Jones and Chuck Leavell – a far cry from their most recent tour when seven additional musicians backed the “core band.” Over on YouTube, The Rolling Stones posted a short video of Jumpin’ Jack Flash from Paris which finds Wood and Keef in fine form…
