Blue Note Records will sponsor a jazz tent at next month’s Bonnaroo festival, dubbed Somethin’ Else. Among the artists confirmed to appear there are Jacky Terrasson, Stefon Harris, Don Byron, Ravi Coltrane, Robert Glasper, the Scott Amendola Band featuring Wilco’s Nels Cline, Mago featuring Billy Martin and John Medeski and the Philadelphia Experiment featuring the Roots’ Ahrmir Thompson, Christian McBride, Uri Caine and Glasper.
Somethin’ Else will be staged in an air-conditioned tent with table seating and bar service, in the vein of a downtown New York jazz club. In addition, DownBeat magazine will host afternoon panel discussions in the space with prominent jazz musicians.
Bonnaroo will be held in Manchester, Tenn., from June 14-17, and will feature the Police, Tool, Wilco, Ween, the White Stripes, Widespread Panic and dozens of other acts.
