15 years ago today (1/27/06), indie rockers Grandaddy announced they would be splitting up. After a meeting the previous month, front man Jason Lytle announced that the band had decided to split up, citing the lack of financial income from being in the group. Their fourth album Just Like the Fambly Cat was released later that year as a farewell album and Lytle would go on to release periodic solo albums. In 2012, Grandaddy reunited for some shows and in 2017, they released their fifth studio album Last Place.
