20 years ago today (7/24/01), Cake released its fourth studio LP Comfort Eagle. Bolstered by the band’s quirky trumpet fueled dead pan brand of rock, Comfort Eagle was jolted by the recognizable single “Short Skirt/Long Jacket” and the smooth slacker vibes of “”Meanwhile, Rick James…” It’s been ten years now since the last Cake LP (2011’s Showroom of Compassion) so these Sacramento eccentrics are overdue for another fan favorite.
