25 years ago today (8/185/98), Death Cab For Cutie released its debut full-length album Something About Airplanes. Comprised of a smaller four-piece led by Ben Gibbard and Chris Walla, Something About Airplanes, was a simplistic offering where the band was still refining their sound that would be more defined on future releases. There is still a Pacific Northwest indie rock squawl that references a quieter Modest Mouse and Built To Spill in spots, yet the debut still holds importance for longtime fans for its originality.
