25 years ago today (4/4/95) Guided By Voices released Alien Lanes, which served as the first GBV album to be released on Matador Records. Their eighth album served up 28 tracks spanning the course of 41 minutes and the album would fundamentally alter the concept of what a rock and roll record could be, with Bob Pollard giving it up with frontman fury and poetic abstractness.
