25 years ago today (5/19/98), Pernice Brothers released its debut album Overcome By Happiness. Founded by Joe Pernice who ended at the time his band Scud Mountain Boys to form this new project that contained the vulnerable charm of The Smiths with power pop hooks and chamber pop of the ’70s. Pernice Brothers would go on for a series of respected albums that made them critics’ favorites and would undeniably be playing large theater if they had their launch today.
