25 Years Ago Today – Steve Marriott (Humble Pie/Small Faces) Dies at 44 (Watch “Black Coffee” Live)

25 years ago today  (4/20/91) singer/guitarist Steve Marriott died tragically at age 44 when a fire, thought to have been caused by a cigarette, started in his bedroom while he was asleep. Marriott is best known for his powerful voice in bands Small Faces (1965–1969) and Humble Pie (1969–1975 and 1980–1981). Marriott was inducted posthumously into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 as a member of Small Faces.
