30 Years Ago Today – fIREHOSE Released Final Album ‘Mr. Machinery Operator’

30 years ago today (2/23/93), fIREHOSE released its fifth and final studio album Mr. Machinery Operator. The second album that the trio released on the major label Columbia Records, never received much acclaim, yet it still retains the signature powerful musicianship of Mike Watt (bass), Ed Crawford (guitar, vocals), and George Hurley (drums). While always up against the expectations of its punk predecessor band Minutemen, fIREHOSE’s catalog is a bionic twist of punk, free jazz and whatever else they were able to stir in: they certainly don’t make em like fIREHOSE no more. Check out the fIREHOSE finale in full.
