35 Years Ago Today: The Cure Release Goth Masterpiece ‘Pornography’ – Listen to “One Hundred Years

35 years ago today (5/4/82), The Cure released Pornography, which is often lauded as The Cure’s strongest overall LP. It is considered by Robert Smith to be the first record of a trilogy including 1989’s Disintegration, and 1999’s Bloodflow. Following its release, bass guitarist Simon Gallup left the band and the Cure switched to a much brighter and more radio-friendly new wave sound, but this one is considered their “goth” masterpiece. Let’s listen to the always inviting but haunting “One Hundred Years” off Pornography.
