35 years ago today (9/19/81), Simon & Garfunkel performed their Concert at Central Park in front of 500,00 people. The performance was staged as a free benefit concert in Central Park, New York City and proceeds went toward the redevelopment and maintenance of the run-down green space in the middle of Manhattan. Simon & Garfunkel had broken up shortly after the 1970 release of their fifth studio album, Bridge Over Troubled Water and Paul Simon had built a solid solo career with a number of well received albums and hits. The two settled their past differences and blended their iconic voices magnificently and lead to the release of their first live album titled The Concert In Central Park, released on 2/16/82. Watch the duo perform “The Boxer” live from Central Park…
