40 years ago today (5/16/83), Iron Maiden released its fourth studio album Piece of Mind. Following 1982’s Number of the Beast, one that many people consider the best Maiden album, Piece of Mind certainly ranks up there with the best and is typically a perennial top-three album. This is the first album with Nicko McBrain on drums (following the departure of Clive Burr), Piece of Mind features thematic favorites “Where Eagles Deare,” “Flight of Icarus,” “Die With Your Boots On” and “The Trooper.” Watch Iron Maiden live in Dortumun in late 1983 in support of Piece of Mind.
