40 Years Ago Today -Led Zeppelin Kicks Off Final Tour in Dortmund (Listen to “Achilles Last Stand”)

40 years ago today (6/17/80), Led Zeppelin kicked off what would be their last tour titled “Tour Over Europe 1980” in Dortmund, Germany. The tour ran from June 17th to July 7th 1980 and was overall more low-key than past Zeppelin outings. The set list was kept around two hours and most of the material from the band’s most recent album, In Through the Out Door, wasn’t performed much, and the shows opened with “Train Kept A-Rollin’,” which had not been a regular feature of their live sets since 1969. Listen to the always powerful “Achilles Last Stand” from 6/17/80.
