40 Years Ago Today – R.E.M. Release ‘Chronic Town’ EP

40 years ago today (8/24/82), R.E.M. released their debut EP Chronic Town. After the success of the group’s debut single “Radio Free Europe”, the band was ready to record a longer release, but instead of a full-length debut, the Athens, GA quartet recorded five songs that showed R.E.M. in pure jangly essence. The EP was just re-released last Friday (8/19) but check out “1,000,000” off the short and sweet debut offering..
