40 Years Ago Today- The Ramones Release Iconic Debut ‘Ramones’ LP – (Watch “Havana Affair/Listen To My Heart” Live ’76)

40 years ago today (4/23/76), The Ramones released their self-titled debut record on Sire Records. The Ramones came onto the scene in the appearance of unity: each member shared the same name, each wore leather jackets and each had similar haircuts. Their debut album defined punk rock with loud guitar, hurried vocals and Joey Ramone’s lyrics of misplacement and angst. The album included classics “Blitzkrieg Bop,” “Beat on the Brat” and “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend.” Watch The Ramones play “Havana Affair” and “Listen to My Heart” live at Max’s Kansas City, NY in 1976.
