40 Years Ago Today – Rush Release ‘Grace Under Pressure’ Album

While the longstanding argument amongst Rush fans would be if the trio were better in the ’70s or ’80s, their tenth studio album Grace Under Pressure might support the Reagan decade as their finest period. Released 40 years ago today (4/12/84), Rush released Grace Under Pressure which was the apex of the band’s keyboard era with the eight tracks incorporating electronic elements and new wave/ska influences. Neil Peart’s lyrics dealt with humans coping with a vast array of pressures and the songs lived up to their lofty ambitions, particularly “Distant Early Warning,” Afterimage,” “Red Sector A”, “Red Lenses” and “The Body Electric.” Watch Rush live in Toronto 1984 for the Grace Under Pressure tour.
